Why Should I use Signed by Author Stickers?

by Connie Cox

Use Signed by Author stickers to signal to the bookstore patron that he/she is getting something special, a book personally signed by the author.  Books that are signed by the author will stick out in your reader's mind as well as on their bookshelves.
Put these stickers on your books at your booksigning. Books autographed by the author will not only attract attention, they will help your bookseller determine which books are being purchased due to your visit. Booksellers will be more likely to invite you back for a repeat performance when they understand how many more sales you've generated because you showed up to sign your books. See more about booksignings.

These little stickers will sell your books long after your booksigning is over. A bit of lagniappe will go a long way to making your book stand out on the shelf. And a signed book may get a longer shelf life than an unsigned book.

Not bad for less than $5, right?  That's right.  A sheet of twenty personalized book stickers are less than $5.  Buy two sheets and get a discount.  The more you buy, the bigger your discount.

As an added bonus, you may change the background color to match or contrast with your book cover.

If  you need  a greater quantity of stickers, you may want to check out the round or oval gold foil stickers.  You can easily add whatever script you want to these stickers.  Some writers prefer the more formal wording of Autographed by Author stickers over Signed by the Author stickers.  Consider two points:  the tone of your book and the size of the sticker.  Autographed by Author is more formal while Signed by Author is more colloquial.  Which audience are you trying to appeal to?  Also, a larger sticker for a hardback book can use the longer autographed book sticker phrase while a smaller sticker for a paperback accommodates Signed by Author better.  Please don't try to use a small font and cram the words together to get Autographed by Author on a small sticker.  That will defeat the purpose of letting everyone know at a glance that your book as been personalized.

I don't know what price these stickers are selling for now, as they are always running a nice sale.  So give the button a click to find out.  You will have to add your own phrasing to the gold stickers, but it's incredibly easy to do and doesn't require any uploading or software on your part.

One caveat:  I've seen the little oval stickers that have the word 'Autographed' in script and 'by the author' in print.  Have you noticed how they seem to be a bit off-key to look at?  Aesthetcially, they jar a bit.  That's because they break the design principle about not mixing fonts in a small area.  So please, when designing your personalized book stickers, use one color of text and one font for more professional design.
